A Young Dreamer from the Hills of Sikkim

Share

At just 14 years old, Rinchen Wangmu Lepcha from Sikkim, India, carries a dream that is both compassionate and inspiring. Growing up in a modest family and witnessing the emotional struggles faced by people around her, she hopes to one day become a therapist in her own country and help those suffering from mental health challenges, depression, stress, and hopelessness.

Rinchen shared that she wants to support people who feel overwhelmed by school pressure, anxiety, and the burdens of daily life. She expressed concern about the growing number of people who lose hope due to stress and emotional pain. Even though she feels she is still young and learning about the world, her heart already carries a deep desire to bring comfort and understanding to others.

Like many children, Rinchen’s future is shaped by both her own dreams and the hopes of her parents. Her mother wishes for her to become an army officer, while her father hopes she will become a doctor. Although she may choose a different path in the future, she says she would still like to honor her parents’ dreams while finding her own purpose in life.

Her story also reflects the educational challenges faced by many families in rural communities. Rinchen explained that older generations in her family often had limited opportunities because of financial hardship. Many attended government schools only until around grade eight before needing to leave school and begin working. Despite these struggles, some members of her extended family were able to continue their studies, complete college, and build successful careers.

Today, Rinchen looks at education as a path toward change — not only for herself, but for her community. Her voice represents countless young people whose dreams are rooted in compassion, resilience, and hope.

At Breeze of Joy Foundation, we believe every child deserves encouragement, education, and the opportunity to pursue their dreams. Rinchen’s story reminds us that even in difficult circumstances, young hearts can carry extraordinary visions for a better world.

Together, we can continue empowering children like Rinchen to rise, learn, and inspire others.
