Founded in 2021 by Joy Sobhanian and Dr. Soha Sobhanian, the Breeze of Joy Foundation grew from a shared conviction: that a society can only truly advance when women and men are empowered equally.
Both founders come from cultures where the education of women was often sidelined — where social and religious barriers made access to education far more difficult for girls. These experiences shaped their belief that investing in a girl's education is one of the most powerful acts of social change. Dr. Sobhanian was fortunate to pursue education to the highest levels, and witnessing its transformative power instilled in her a deep responsibility to give back.
A turning point came after Joy watched the documentary Dangerous Ways to School, which revealed the extreme risks many children take simply to access education. Seeing their courage transformed his concern into a commitment to act — and the Breeze of Joy Foundation was born.
Why the Name "Breeze of Joy"?
The name is both poetic and purposeful. It symbolizes a gentle, refreshing force — something natural, healing, and ever-present — that can touch lives regardless of where they are. The foundation exists to create those breezes: small but meaningful acts that carry warmth, opportunity, and transformation.

What We Cover
Our scholarships are comprehensive — covering tuition, books, uniforms, transportation, meals, and essential living expenses. But our mission extends beyond academics. We focus on nurturing physical, moral, and spiritual growth, helping students build resilience, confidence, and a sense of belonging.
Why Girls?
When resources are limited, educating girls creates an especially powerful ripple effect. Women shape families, raise future generations, and anchor their communities. By uplifting girls, we invest not only in individuals, but in the long-term health of society as a whole.
Our Commitment
We are 100% volunteer-run. Not a single dollar of donations goes to salaries, office rent, or overhead. Every contribution goes directly to a girl's education — and we keep it that way on purpose. Transparency is not just a policy; it is a promise.
